It's the last day of what has proven to be a very long month. And once again, it's snowing. My words are scrambled and I can't seem to put them in proper order.. I will, however, send you to the message our bishop wrote regarding the New Guy's immigration/refugee motions. Bishop Ough's words are so much better than what I could say. That's all for now. Back to work.

Yep.

All I really want to do right now is post memes.  It has been one heck of a week. Of course, if you're reading this, you probably know that already. I mean, most of my readers are friends and we've been watching the same news. It's been heartwrenching and frustrating and maddening and baffling. Just gonna leave this one here. And I get to add to that. Just my own little piece in my own little corner of the world. This one's for my uncle. I didn't have a great week on a basic level. There had been computer issues and a dead battery. On Friday, my granddad landed in the hospital with influenza A. [Note: He is doing much better. He's out of the hospital and is still a bit tired, but with any luck the worst is behind him.] I acknowledge that the placement of this one is not great. On Thursday, though, I received news that my new job was put on hold thanks to the hiring freeze. As it turns out, I'm still angry about tha

I am NOT having a good day. So for now, here's a picture from a recent hike.

Fourth Annual

Image
So ... I told you about Burning Beetle a couple years ago.  It has since expanded and become an annual event and it just so happened to be this last Saturday. The Chef Lady and I caught up and after an afternoon of wine and shopping, hit Custer. This is one of the weirder events in the Hills and ... I kind of love it. You could see this dude from across town. It was more than a little unsettling, actually. And look! It's the entire town of Custer! I was also amazed by what my somewhat new phone could manage. This is the first time I've really tested the camera and ... Yeah, these are some pretty good shots, and it had nothing to do with me and my shaky hands. If you're interested in catching it next year, give yourself time for the talent show beforehand, the march, burning, fireworks, and dinner/"bug crawl" afterwards. It's definitely grown from its original form and it's a lot of fun. Now, to familiarize myself with Inst

A Techie Request

I feel like it's a small thing, but could someone out there make an app that would let me play my Audible books on my Fire TV stick? I mean, they're even owned by the same company. It doesn't seem like it would be that complicated (compared to reaching agreements with all the streaming video services that have apps available). ... Fine. I'm just being lazy. Although it'd be nice to not run down my phone battery while I'm packing.

This Week

1. It is cold. But it's also pretty. 2. The PoGo event right now has been fun, even if Mia Sorella kind of hates my luck. 3. Had a near incident the other day ... Headed into Rapid and while on the highway (which has a 60mph speed limit at that point) and the rear bumper fell off the vehicle in front of me. Before you could say, "You don't see that every day," I had swerved into the right turn lane and the truck behind me into the passing lane. Thankfully, the bumper stayed in its lane. No one was hurt. The bumper was the only casualty. 4. New Year's was good, but I am getting old. 5. I am a mediocre plow-er but we can get out, so that's good.

That "Goal" Thing

I would love to say that I've stopped making resolutions, but the full truth is that they usually just take on new titles each year. Instead of resolutions, they're "accomplishments" or "goals" or whatever -- same thing, different synonyms.  This year? This year I'm starting with stuff from 2016 that actually worked out, since it's always fun to start a list with things you can immediately cross off... * Things I'm Taking With Me Into 2017: 1. A note-taking habit that started in 2016 that has me paying much more attention to the junk I eat and drink. (Knowledge is power!) 2. A new journaling habit thanks to the bullet journal craze. 3. An addiction to the Stitcher app, which allows me to binge on podcasts like some folks binge Netflix. Seriously, I've learned so much in recent history... Things I'm Not Taking With Me In 2017: 1. That couch, probably. 2. All sorts of stuff that I've had in boxes f
