Still Here

Well, here I am again. Yup, still kicking, most of the time. It's been an psychotic week (plus) as of late, and I'm ready to check out of this madhouse. Unfortunately, I'll be the only one sticking around in two weeks, watching all of my friends drive off into the great beyond (and their respective summer jobs). Speaking of which, I suppose it's getting to be that time -- the time where studying really kicks in, and in between one must pack up his or her life in preparation for whatever move he or she is making. Even I'm changing buildings sometime (I hope they tell me when very soon -- I'll be trying to work at the same time, and I'll need to get a new card so I can get into the stinking building in the first place). South Dakota's been acting very South Dakota-y lately. We got two solid days of rain this week (woot!), and on the second day, we were under a winter storm watch. Now it's almost 60 degrees outside and windy. Eighteen days till my

Daily Update

Well, here I am. My mood (on the right) is pretty accurate for today -- definitely feel lonely. My two best friends broke up with each other, I'm still recovering from an awesome weekend, and now I'm sitting in my room doing homework. Okay, sitting in my room avoiding homework. Obviously, or I wouldn't be talking to you. I failed a microbiology test this morning. When I say "failed," I mean "failed with gusto." I've never failed a test with so much confidence in my answers before. I was baffled when I checked the score. Baffled. Thank goodness one test gets dropped in that class. I can survive then. Temperatures are increasing outside, so the dorms are heating up. Since I'm currenly sans-fan, my room is more furnace than living space. It'll work (better than living in the Jeep), but it's not terribly comfy right now. Um ... that's it. I need to get some more kinetics done and read through my piece for our presentation tomorrow. Have

Springy

I hated to break the segregation, really I did, but I'm here anyway. It's been an interesting day, all things considered. I learned a little about DNA analysis (which I will hopefully be researching next year), took a make-up test, then played with the lyophilizer until I had it all figured out. Just a couple of minutes ago, I crashed a previously only-male computer lab, a little early for my group meeting so I could sit back and talk to you people. The test went shockingly well. After hearing from the rest of my class, I was anticipating the worst, but I got an A. Yay! Still recovering from my awesome weekend. There's a lot of missing sleep that I still haven't made up for, and I definitely feel it. Thankfully, the weather's been awesome, which serves as a sort of energizing force. It also lends to a bad case of spring fever. Only three weeks to go and I'm not totally certain I can make it. My birthday's right after that, but it looks like I'll be spend

Exhausting

Awesome weekend. Quality time in Verm, lessons learned, fun had. Sleep forgotten. Which worked out fine until the almost-ten hour drive back today, at which point I would have felt guilty for sleeping. Instead, in conjunction with much caffeine consumption, there was great conversation (often loopy) for the duration of the trip. Now I'm back at school, groaning in anticipation of all the studying I haven't done yet. So ... yeah. I'm still alive, and more excited than ever for Russia. Good stuff. All for me. Have a great week, folks. Death is nature's way of saying, "Slow down."

Avoid Prolonged Exposure

Good rule for life, don't you think? In this case, these wise words came to me in the form of a warning label on a toxic, corrosive chemical I was using today. And maybe they fit best in that particular context -- I don't want to be any more mutated than I already am. I suppose it's just another way of saying "everything in moderation," but "avoid prolonged exposure" is more fun. Furthermore, you can apply it to just about anything: food, drink, classes, homework, the sun ... Take these particular items where heeding this advice might help: -Surbeck food: lessen the amount of indigestion you suffer. -Mountain Dew: lessens the number of caffeine crashes you endure. -Mass transfer: lessens the number of times you suffer whiplash from trying to stay awake. -Homework: duh. How about people? Think about it, starting with your relatives. Do you have an aunt or uncle you absolutely love -- for awhile? By the time you've heard that one joke the fifth time, y
