Merness

Come on now. You didn't think that was ALL I had to say today, did you? Let me give you a general overview of today. On an average Tuesday, I don't have class, so I sleep in. Today, I got up bright and early so I could get my laundry done before I took my physics test at 11. Took that time to study, felt pretty good during the test. Naturally, after I get done, 4 out of 5 people I talk to call the test horrendous (not always using that word, but usually a synonym, often involving swear words). This makes me wonder--did I miss something? Fine. I can deal with that. I'll have to wait till Friday, but I can deal with it. Instead, I head toward Borders (a bookstore, comparable to Barnes & Noble) to work on an essay I have due Friday. The catch? I need to be pretty close to done so I can give a presentation on it tomorrow. Why Borders? Because it's similar to a library, but with coffee. Borders has no books that I can work with. I give up after a l

Stupid Losses

Quick (relatively!) vent: My computer crashed and now requires re-formatting. Fine, fine, whatever. I just want it to work again. It doesn't hold anything TOO important, EXCEPT for the pictures from my last mission trip. Grr. Shouldn't be an issue; in order to get those pictures, I had to scan them onto the computer at home, then transfer them to my laptop. They should be on the computer there. No problem. Except that the computer at home crashed, too, and Mom and Dad got a new one. I don't know if anything was saved from the old one. Grr again. Luckily, I have them on disk somewhere (had to get them to my laptop SOMEHOW). New problem: that disk could be anywhere. Fruitless search ensues. Grr yet again. Then, today, as I'm going through my regular CDs, I come across one labeled "Everything." Ambiguous, yes, but it contains just about all the stuff I wanted. Yay! My world is safe to see another day. Now I just need to fin

Homecoming

For now, I'm going to depart from my usual pseudo-philisophicality and actually talk about homecoming. For now. Ah, M-Week. A week of traditions, paint, and alcohol in almost any pure or not-so-pure form. The last one I don't care about. The first two can be interesting. At "home" -- Lennox, that is -- homecoming is the second biggest event in the high school (graduation being the first). The week is spent dressing strangely, attending pep rallies (okay, okay, pep rally), decorating your car, and culminates in the football game that everyone's spent the whole week talking about. Around here, homecoming day itself is of little interest. If you're a frosh, you wear your beanie (yes, we still have beanies) and go on beanie raids. If you're a senior, you wear your senior hat and collect garters. If you're in the middle, you laugh at the stupidity of the frosh and seniors. It basically culminates at the all-school picnic, the day BEFORE th

Blechh

Wow, what a tremendous let-down of a week. I get sick, I have a couple killer quizzes in organic, and now my bloody computer won't work (I'm in a lab right now). Grr. Other than that, things don't really suck all that much. There is great potential for them to REALLY suck, but nothing yet. My high school's actually been condemned. They decided that this week or something ... So, now they have to tear down the old part (which has been around since Lord knows when) and thus destroy what might as well be an Historic Landmark. No, seriously. And the 5th Floor. That's enough to make me sad. Mer. Heard the greatest thing on the radio yesterday. It was raining (really, REALLY raining, for the first time this year) and the DJ was giving the weather report: "Cooler this afternoon with a chance of showers. Duh." It was right up there with one professor calling another one neurotic. (I think. He might've been talking about himself.)

Back To Life!

Tada! One full week back at school, and already I'm my brighter, more chipper, slightly stranger self. Funny how hanging out with these people does that to a person. Classes are going to be interesting. I'm taking things like Chem-E 1, organic chemistry (gasp!), physics (snore!), Tech Comm, and Calc III. So far, things are good. My professors are even pretty cool. The greatest thing so far? Having a philosophy teacher for an English class. Our room's a blast. Got it all set up and everything ... Yay. Hopefully Ashli and I don't wanna kill each other by the end of the year, but I don't anticipate it. IVCF's annual Harney Hike was yesterday, and I (naturally) went--as did Barb, Jon, and Darren. Fun stuff! Poor Barb hurt herself, however, and Jon ended up carrying her the last mile or so. There're some pictures on my site . Speaking of which, I'm finally getting things going on that again, so if you want to check it out, it's rea
