Nerd Vegas

I am a nerd.

Yes, I know. Not a revelation. But I've realized that, as much as I look forward to trips like this one coming up, I always get way more excited about it when I start diving into the details.

England was like that. At one point -- when I looked at all the things that needed to fall into place -- I was actually dreading it. Dreading it! Who dreads a vacation? But as soon as I started planning things, I was psyched.

Vegas ... I skipped over the dreading phase this time, possibly because so many things about it had already been talked up to the point of fear disappearing.

Plus, well, I did a week in England alone. I only have to get to Vegas myself. I do that all the time.

Anyway! In amongst the lists and planning, I realized the kinds of things I'm intending to do -- and I had to laugh at myself.

Thrill rides.

A few geocaches -- those for which I won't need my GPSr.

The atomic bomb testing museum.

A Cirque du Soleil show.

The Titanic artifact exhibition.

The Australian version of Chippendale's. (Yes. It's a bachelorette party.)

Notice what's missing?

Bars. Clubs. Gambling. Fine dining.

I've given more thought to double-decker buses than I have to casinos. Maybe this is what publicists would use as evidence that there's something for everyone in Vegas.

Some of the "normal" stuff will get worked in as well ... I'd like to venture up to Fremont Street, the original main drag. And Thunder From Down Under qualifies as "normal Vegas fare." I'm sure we'll end up in a club or two at some point as well.

There will not be enough time for all of this. I'm going to have to prioritize. That makes me a little sad.
