For Wausaunians

For the record, if you're bored this weekend it's your own fault.

With the start of Lent there are fish fries all over town as well (as in "plural of fish fry," not "fish cut into French-fry-type strips" ... although some places probably have those, too). Several area restaurants will have a fish fry option and some have dedicated Friday menus.

Tonight and tomorrow night, there's live music downtown at several locations. (Might I recommend Malarkey's? Reggae tonight and blues/rock tomorrow, all of it good. Oh, and they're one of the smoke free options here in town.)

If you're in the mood for a laugh, Cali's has stand-up comedy (as they do every Friday night from September to May). Something like eight dollars for two performers, starting at nine tonight. I don't guarantee the price -- I rarely remember that one correctly. But that's in the ballpark.

Tomorrow is the 15th annual Ice Tee Classic, taking place on the Square. The Classic is mini-golf-on-ice-for-charity and it's a great time! 10:00-3:00, recommended donation of $2, and it benefits The Neighbors' Place here in town. Bring your own implement, be it baseball bat, hockey stick, or broom ... Or an actual golf club. Those are allowed too.

In honor of the Olympics, the Wausau Curling Club will be having an open house on Saturday from 11:00-4:00 and Sunday from noon to 3:00 at Marathon Park. It comes highly recommended around these parts (this office, that is) and promises to be amusing! (Bonus points for showing up in a kilt!)

I suppose that's more than enough advertising for today. And there's some variety in there ...

As for me, I'll be in and around a few of these (although it sounds like some of us are creating our own fish fry tonight). The one definite will be turning up on the Square tomorrow morning with either my broom or a borrowed golf club -- I've been looking forward to this one all month!

Have a good weekend, all.
